Before the UEFA Europa Conference League Group E match kicked-off in Birmingham, the Legia Warsaw fans were spotted throwing missiles at the Aston Villa fans and the West Midlands Police near the Villa Park. As per the police, they made 39 arrests after clashes with Legia Warsaw fans on Thursday, November 30, which saw four officers get ting injured too.

The match between Aston Villa and Legia Warsaw did start on time but no fans of Legia Warsaw were allowed inside the Villa Park to catch the action. Aston Villa managed to win the UEFA Europa Conference League contest against Legia Warsaw by 2-1 to keep their stranglehold in Group E.

Moussa Diaby opened the scoring in the fourth minute for Aston Villa before Ernest Muci levelled the score for Legia Warsaw, but it was Alex Moreno who got the winner for the hosts in the 58th minute. Notably, Legia Warsaw had accused Aston Villa in regard to reneging on their agreement in regard to away ticket allocation, but the West Midlands club stated that they made their decision because of the safety concerns.

After the Aston Villa and Legia Warsaw match had finished, the West Midlands Police released a statement in connection with the happenings at the Villa Park, excerpts of which read, “We've made more than 30 arrests as officers were injured during serious disorder involving away fans outside Villa Park this evening.”
“We were faced with disgusting and highly dangerous scenes as trouble flared ahead of the fixture between Aston Villa and Legia Warsaw. We had a significant policing presence in place because of safety concerns. This stemmed from visiting fans having been involved in previous matchday disorder,” they added.
