The Formula 1 2023 season is all set to kickstart in almost a  month's time . But before the start of the 2023 season, the seven-time F1 champion has opened up on his stance on racism. The greatest of all times, Lewis Hamilton in his latest podcast session hosted by motivational speaker Jay Shetty opened up on racism he has suffered throughout his life.

 

The 38-year-old Formula One star revealed that his time at school was “probably the most traumatizing and most difficult part of my life,” during an episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty.

 

The British driver said that the issues started at a very age for him while he was at school Stevenage. “I was already being bullied at the age of six,” Hamilton revealed. “I think at the time of that particular school, I was probably one of three kids of color, and just bigger and stronger bullying kids were throwing me around a lot of the time,” he continued.

The Mercedes driver also added that he was repeatedly called the ‘n-word’ by other students and kids at school would even throw bananas at him. “I didn’t feel I could go home and tell my parents that these kids kept calling me the n-word, or I got bullied or beaten up at school today, I didn’t want my dad to think I was not strong,” Hamilton added.

 

It is to be noted that Hamilton have spoken against racism at all levels of his career. The Brit driver has also created the Hamilton Commission in an effort to increase diversity in motorsports.
