Indian batters Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal got into a terrible batting mix-up during the first T20I clash between India and Australia. During the match, a communication error between both cricketers led to a bizarre run out of Gaikwad. Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who was bowling the over, reacted to the dismissal by laughing in Jaiswal’s face.

During the first clash of the five-match T20I series, the Baggy Greens batted first and posted a target of 209 runs for the hosts to chase. Gaikwad and Jaiswal opened innings for the Indian side, and while they were looking promising to chase the total, a communication error led to an unexpected run-out. During the first over of the Indian innings, Jaiswal hit a Stonis delivery for a double.
However, after taking the first run, Jaiswal called Gaikwad for a second but refused to run while the latter was already halfway through the pitch, leading to Gaikwad’s dismissal. Stoinis reacted to the wicket by laughing in Jaiswal’s face. Gaikwad was forced to walk back to the pavilion for a diamond duck.
Notably, after an unexpected end to the World Cup 2023, India locked horns with Australia in a five-match series in India. The sides met in the first fixture of the series on Thursday, at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
