This century holds special importance as the Quetta Gladiators were struggling against the Kings at the start of their innings. The  Gladiators were down 23 for 4 in 6.1 overs as Guptill gradually built his inning before blasting Andrew Tye for 30 runs and reaching an important milestone. Reacting to this performance, the Kiwi praised Iftikhar Ahmed, for his 32-run knock, which helped the Quetta after losing early wickets.

While speaking in the mid-innings interview, Guptill said, “Tough going upfront, losing wickets. The partnership with Iftikhar brought us back in the game. We lost four early wickets but we did well to come back. I was able to hit through when it was needed. It was tough going, it is never easy when you lose two wickets in the first over. They are a great bunch of guys.”
