Max Verstappen, the reigning Formula One Drivers’ World Champion, was spotted driving the brand new Red Bull RB20 car in a leaked video from the Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom. The first few laps of the brand-new car, driven by Max Verstappen, were a part of the filming day shakedown, ahead of its upcoming big launch.
Notably, during a shakedown event, an F1 team is allowed to drive the car for a maximum of 200 kilometres, which was just 100 kilometres until last year. It also allows the team to assess all the systems of their new car for the first time on a reputed circuit before it goes for the F1 pre-season testing.
During every F1 season, a team is permitted to have two filming day shakedowns, and most teams prefer to take one such opportunity before the start of the new campaign.
The 200 kilometres during the filming day shakedown add up to around 33 laps. The reports in Dutch media suggested that the Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner was in attendance at the filming day shakedown, despite the internal investigation into his alleged bad behaviour being carried out by the team’s parent company.
The official launch of the new Red Bull RB20 car, which is a successor to RB 19, the most dominant car in F1, will happen at a special ceremony in Milton Keynes, the United Kingdom on Thursday, February 15. Red Bull will be bringing the new RB20 car for the F1 pre-season testing from February 21 to 23 at the Bahrain International Circuit.
