In the summit clash of the IPL 2024, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are taking on the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. With the two skippers taking the field for the toss, it was Pat Cummins who won the toss and elected to bat first.
However, this decision of Pat Cummins did not get them to the best of starts. With Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma taking the crease in the middle, the latter was dismissed by a jaffa from World Cup winning bowler, Mitchell Starc. The veteran Aussie bowler bowled a peach of a delivery with Abhishek having now answers, eventually stepping forward and nipping it away wickedly.
The incident occurred on the fifth ball of the opening over which helped KKR draw their first blood and SRH reeling at 2/1 after first over in the IPL 2024 Final. Even the KKR owner Kavya Maran was left shell shocked by the quick dismissal of the SRH opener.

While the Shreyas Iyer-led side are appearing in their fourth IPL final, having won two titles already, the SunRisers Hyderabad are playing their second IPL final. Moreover, the KKR skipper, Shreyas Iyer also became the first captain to lead two different franchises in IPL Final, after he earlier led the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020.
