England all-rounder Moeen Ali took a hat trick against Chattogram Challengers in the Bangladesh Premier League 2024. Before Ali's hattrick, fellow Englishman Will Jacks put forth a tremendous batting effort as scored 108 in 57 balls with five fours and nine sixes and helped the Victorians post 239, the joint-highest total in BPL history.
Batting first after the Challengers elected to bat first, the Comilla Victorians were off to a stunning start as the opening pair of Jacks and Litton Das posted an 86-run stand. But Chattogram came back into the contest with three quick wickets. Then Jacks batting with Moeen Ali brought the Victorians back as the duo stitched up a 128-run partnership helping Comilla score a 239-run total.
Then in the second innings, Chattogram failed to get going as they struggled their way to 165 in 16 overs while losing seven wickets. Starting the 17th, Shohidul Islam attempted to step down at Moeen Ali before the all-rounder darted the ball outside off before Jaker Ali completed a stumping.
The second ball by Moeen Ali was flighted delivery towards the off-stump which Al-Amin Hossain slogged straight down. Positioned at long-on, Will Jacks stood tall to complete his fifth catch of the fixture. Finishing off the match, Ali cleaned up Bilal Khan to complete his hat trick and help the Victorians register a 73-run victory.
