Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan got into a war of words with South African all-rounder Marco Jansen in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Playing in Chennai, Pakistan elected to bat first but got to a shaky start by losing two quick wickets. But despite these dismissals, the Men in Green managed to score a few quick runs.

It was a similar case for Rizwan as the Pakistani gloveman was nearly dismissed on his first ball courtesy of a difficult dropped catch by Marco Jansen. On the next delivery, Proteas' pacer managed to trouble Rizwan but the ball flew off the edge for a six over third man.

As the ball went over the boundary rope, Jansen and Rizwan got into a heated altercation. Fellow fast bowler Gerald Coetzee jumped to cool things down but the tensions remained as Jansen and Rizwan once again got into each other after the ninth over.
Coming back to the Pakistani team, captain Babar Azam announced two changes in Waseem Jr and Mohd. Nawaz, who replaced Hasan Ali and Usama Mir. Speaking at the toss, Azam said, "We'll bat first. Every match is important now and we are focusing on that."
"All departments we need to improve, fielding especially. We need to stick together and discuss how to get better. I'm happy to do well myself now. Two changes - Hasan Ali is sick, so Waseem Jr comes in. Nawaz is also back, Usama Mir misses out."
