The speedster took a stunning overhead catch to dismiss Nitish Kumar off Arshdeep Singh delivery in the 15th over. Not only this, but he also took Jones’ catch during the game. Siraj was named the best fielder as he beat teammates Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav to get the award.
Mohammed Siraj receives Fielder of the Match Award from former India all-rounder
Siraj received the medal from ex-India great Yuvraj Singh, one of the greatest fielders India has produced. Named as the ICC’s Global Ambassador for the 2024 T20 World Cup, Singh made a special visit to the Indian dressing room to present the award to Siraj. The former cricketer, and a two-time World Cup winner congratulated the side as they advanced to the Super Eight stage on the back of a three-match win.
Notably, Siraj had won the fielding award after India’s season opener against Ireland. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant who returned to the side after a year-long injury layoff, won the medal after the second game against arch-nemesis Pakistan.
