Pacer Mohit Sharma delivered a stunning last over as Gujarat Titans defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by seven runs. After a poor batting display, GT managed to post only 135. Defending this total, the Titans were put under pressure by LSG's top order. But as the match neared its end, Gujarat put on a choke hold on Lucknow's batting and took the game to the last over.
Super Giants needed just 11 runs in the 20th over and here came Mohit Sharma, the redemption story of IPL 2023. On the first ball, Lucknow managed to squeeze two runs. Then on the second delivery, Sharma dismissed KL Rahul, with a brilliant slow delivery as he the Indian batter miss-timed his shot to Jayant Yadav.
In came Marcus Stoinis, who smashed the 2014 Purple Cap winner at long-on, where David Miller took a stunning catch as the LSG now needed 10 in three balls. The fourth ball of the over saw another wicket as Ayush Badoni was runout at the score of one. Then to make it four wickets in four balls, Deepak Hooda was also runout before Mohit Sharma, delivered another dot ball to help GT win a thrilling contest.

Reacting to his performance, Sharma spoke about he has been focusing on being consistent. He said, " Nothing special, everything's normal, as usual. I think I have been consistent. You need to focus and prepare in the same manner each and every time, that helps."
"You need to keep practising, just stick to the basics and try not to overthink. That belief factor was always there. Nehra adviced us to stick to our plans honestly. I tried to focus on executing my plans. Also tried that the batters couldn't read what I was trying to bowl."
