The IPL 2021 Final between CSK and KKR has witnessed some extremely astonishing moments in the first 2 hours of action. While Lockie Ferguson went on to concede 56 runs in his quota of 4 overs after an extremely impressive tournament, fans got to see a Faf du Plessis masterclass after his failure in Qualifier 1.
However, something very rare happened in the 2nd over of KKR innings. Josh Hazlewood bowled short-pitch delivery which cramped Venkatesh Iyer for room. The left-handed batsman got himself in a very awkward position and an outside edge took the ball straight towards MS Dhoni.
How did MSD drop that catch?
It was a matter of seconds and CSK had got their first breakthrough of the evening. But in a dramatic turn of events, Thala seemed to have lost the trajectory of the ball as he just looked blank for a moment. And guess what, the catch was dropped!
No one could believe their eyes but that had happened - MS Dhoni had dropped an easy catch! The missed opportunity did hurt CSK as an in-form Iyer had not even opened his account at that time. After the dropped catch, the 26-year-old broke free and played some glorious shots to get his side off to a good start.

Just a couple of overs later, CSK got another half chance when Shubman Gill played the ball in air towards mid-off. But despite a baliant diving effort from Shardul Thakur, the ball just fell centimetres short as it raced towards the boundary.
