As the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) sets the tone of T20 cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, set to be played in June this year, fans have been eager to watch one of the most successful captains of India, MS Dhoni takes the field. With the 42-year-old wicketkeeper-batter hinting on his retirement from the Indian domestic league, it is highly likely that it could be the last year for MS Dhoni in IPL.

But ahead of the IPL 2024 opener, the veteran was seen fine tuning his skills as he went for his trademark helicopter shot in one of the practice sessions. Will it be MS Dhoni’s last IPL? AB de Villiers addresses Dhoni’s future
With speculations surrounding that IPL 2024 could be MS Dhoni’s last, former South Africa and RCB batter AB de Villiers recently addressed the topic. Speaking on his YouTube channel, ABD said that it’s not necessary that it could be his last. De Villiers feel that nobody can confirm on when MS Dhoni will retire, hailing him as a “diesel engine”.
“They played some incredible cricket last year. There were a lot of rumours about MS Dhoni finishing up last year, that was not the case, ladies and gentlemen. He would be back again. Will this be his final season? No one knows. He just seems to be this diesel engine that never ends. He keeps running. What an incredible player, what an incredible captain,” de Villiers said in his YouTube channel.
