Former India captain and wicketkeeper-batter, MS Dhoni continues to remain one of the most iconic figures in Indian cricket history. While he continues to remain the only captain to win three ICC titles, his former teammate and star batter Virat Kohli is also among the greats who have etched his name in the Indian cricketing history. Although both batters have been the greats of their respective playing days, they have rarely spoken of each other.

But recently, former India captain, MS Dhoni, who only features in the Indian Premier League (IPL), opened up on his relationship with Virat Kohli. Although, their friendship both, on and off the field has been of mutual respect and admiration, their camaraderie is evident in various interviews, social media interactions. One of the instance of the same was witness at a recent event when the 43-year-old former skipper was asked of his relationship with Kohli.

When asked about his relationship with Kohli from a member of the audience at an event, Dhoni said, "We have been playing since 2008-09. There's still an age gap, so I don't know whether I would say like I am an older brother or colleague or whatever name you give it. But at the end of the day, we have been colleagues, you know, who played for India for a very long time. He has been amongst the best when it comes to world cricket.”

It is to be noted that Kohli has time and again spoken about how much he respects Dhoni, particularly his calm and composed nature and his ability to handle pressure with ease despite being the captain of the side. On the other, Dhoni has always Kohli, like this time for his batting prowess, skill, passion, fitness. 

Further speaking of the bond, Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Kohli after the former decided to step down as captain of India in limited overs in 2017. Moreover, Kohli has often hailed Dhoni as his mentor and someone who he could rely on for advice.
