Musheer Khan, who is a part of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, was seen having a joyful moment with his captain Shreyas Iyer ahead of his team’s opening encounter against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 25. Punjab haven’t qualified for the playoffs for the last 11 years and they will now expect their newly-formed team to play quality cricket in the ongoing T20 extravaganza and lift the coveted trophy. PBKS have appointed former Australia captain Ricky Ponting as their coach for this season and along with him, the 2014 runners-up reconstructed the side. At the business event, they spent INR 26.75 Crore to reserve the 2024 IPL-winning captain Shreyas’ services for the tournament.

PBKS also showed faith in the 20-year-old Musheer, who became a member of the team for INR 30 Lakh. The youngster plays as an all-rounder for Mumbai in domestic cricket. Before the big game, a video is doing rounds on the internet where Musheer can be seen imitating his skipper Shreyas. Watching his junior colleague mimick him, PBKS captain failed to control his laughter.

Musheer opens up on his equation with Shreyas

In a chat with ANI, Musheer talked about his amiability with skipper Shreyas, who is also his senior teammate and captain in Mumbai. He also divulged how he is dealing with pressure of T20 cricket. The young all-rounder has played for Mumbai in first-class cricket but is yet to make his T20 debut in the domestic circuit.

“I have played T20 cricket in the DY Patil tournament. I have played a lot of club-level cricket. There is a difference between red-ball cricket and white-ball cricket. I have prepared accordingly and will try implementing it when I get a chance. I would try to give my best in all departments,” remarked Musheer to ANI.

He also added, “I am having a lot of fun with him as a captain. I have played Ranji Trophy with him and I have learnt a lot from him, such as his game play, confidence and attitude. In the IPL, I will try learning more by watching him from closed quarters. We are all enjoying with him and trying to learn from him as much as possible.”
