Indian bowling great R Ashwin had to taste his own medicine during a Tamil Nadu Premier League 2024 clash against Nellai Royal Kings. Ashwin's Dindigul Dragons suffered a crushing four-wicket win where the majority of the batting failed to score any runs, costing them the game. Despite the defeat, the Dragons have sealed qualification to the playoffs as they sit in fourth place on the table.
After a poor start with the bat where Shivam Singh held one ended up scoring 70 in 49 balls, Ashwin came in the 14th over. A few deliveries later, Ashwin was at the non-stiker’s end and seemingly left the crease before left-arm spinner Mohan Prasath could bowl his ball.

The bowler immediately stopped and warned the Dindigul Dragons captain of a potential run-out. Ashwin, who has famously used this method to dismiss batters, ultimately survived. Though Prasath didn’t dislodge the bails, the replay showed that the Indian great had his bat inside the white line and would have been not out.
Further talking about the game, Ashwin chipped in with 15 runs as Dindigul were bundled out for a lowish total of 136 runs in 19.4 overs. Then with the ball, Ashwin and his spinning bowling partner and IPL star Varun Chakravarthy picked up two wickets each but failed to take their team over the finish line. Nellai Royal Kings chased down the total in 17.5 overs.
