Nicholas Pooran, who is currently playing in the IPL for Lucknow Super Giants , talked about Rishabh Pant and expressed that the Indian superstar will come out of his current predicament in a much stronger way. Pooran also shared his experiences of going through the same situation that Pant is in right now and revealed that he is chatting with him about his progress as well.
It was during January 2015 when Nicholas Pooran got badly hurt in a car accident in Trinidad and went through multiple surgeries to get his ruptured left patellar tendon and ankle fracture on his right leg fully repaired. He took more than 6 months to walk on his two feet before returning to cricket in the summer of 2016. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant was involved in a car accident near Roorkee in Uttarakhand on December 30, 2022, which led to him suffering multiple injuries, including right knee ligament tear, which was surgically repaired shortly afterwards.
While speaking in a sit-down interview with ESPNcricinfo recently, Nicholas Pooran described what Rishabh Pant must be going through after being involved in a life-altering accident. He said, “It's very challenging. It's one where no one understands. Sometimes, I can remember… I have been chatting with Rishabh obviously. Both of us have a really good relationship. But there's times that you go into a place where you're very depressed, and frustrated because you just want the healing process to happen so fast. But it's difficult.”

The West Indian superstar mentioned that the recovery process is about staying patient and believing in yourself. “Sometimes you don't see progress. In life, you want to see progress, you want it to happen so fast, but it doesn't happen in our own time. But it's very challenging, but you need to believe in yourself. You need to believe that whatever happened, happened for a reason. Can't question it, because you won't get an answer. You need to believe in your God as well. Have faith in yourself, have faith in your hard work.”
Pooran was confident that Pant would bounce back from his situation for sure. “As soon as you see… that first step you take, once you can see that improvement, I think that's when you become motivated. Rishabh will come out of this. He's a strong guy. He will come out of this. And he will be better. He just need to believe in himself. He needs to spend time with himself and understand who are the people for him and who is against him. This is where you know who are your family and who are your friends.”
“It's a difficult period in anyone's life. Everyone has different challenges. Challenges come in different forms and ways. But it's a blessing in disguise, and he'll figure it out,” Nicholas Pooran concluded.
