Novak Djokovic reigned on his return to the United States as he lifted the Cincinnati Open 2023 title after beating World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz. The Serbian beat Alcaraz 5-7, 7-6, 7-6 to win a record 39th Masters title and redeem his Wimbledon 2023 loss last month.

The 36-year-old celebrated this win in a wild manner as he was seen ripping his shirt as he roared in happiness. The World No. 2 who looked in disbelief after winning the tiebreak shook hands with his opponent before ripping apart his shirt. The video of the same is now doing rounds on social media.

Talking about the three-set thriller which lasted for almost four hours, Djokovic dropped the first set, making things look difficult on his end due to some injury issues. The Serb was down 2-4 in the second set and later fought for a match point. But he rallied to win the second set and then outlasted Alcaraz, winning the tiebreak in the final set to win the championship. The match was also the longest Masters 1000 best of three finals match ever played till date.

The two will next be seen taking the centre-stage at the last and fourth Grand Slam of the year - The US Open, starting August 21.
