What a first innings one witnessed in the ongoing match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans. While Gujarat had won the toss, it was Punjab's fearless style of batting that made for entertaining the first half of the match. Each batter who came did not mind going after the bowling straight away and while that meant they lost wickets in a cluster, even the number 10 and 11 batters chipped in for Punjab to propel them to a score of 189/9.
In a bizarre and hilarious incident at the same time, number 11 batter Arshdeep Singh (10* off 5) scored a boundary off one of the fastest bowlers around Lockie Ferguson to end the 19th over of the innings.
However, after scoring that shot, Arshdeep failed to realise that he was standing at the wrong end, facing the first ball of the 20th over. It was only after Gujarat Titans' Matthew Wade had a word with the umpire that Arshdeep was sent to the right end.
Commentators described the event as an aftermath of the high of scoring a boundary despite coming at that batting number.
