Former footballer David Beckham shared a heartfelt video message for Rafael Nadal who retired from tennis on Tuesday, November 19. Nadal played his last professional game at the Davis Cup Final quarterfinal, where he was handed a 4-6, 4-6 loss by Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands. After his final match, the entire social media flourished with messages for the legendary player.

The official page of Davis Cup posted a video of the former Manchester United player where he sent a heartfelt message to the Spaniard. Beckham congratulated Nadal for his exceptional career and made their post-retirement plans. He said, “Rafa, I wanted to send my love and huge congratulations to you for an amazing career. Thank you for so many incredible moments and memories as a tennis fan, and for everything that you have done to inspire young people around the world.” He added, 'So, Rafa, the best thing about retirement is that we can now go and watch our beloved Real Madrid together. Hala Madrid!”

Serena Williams, one of the greatest tennis players paid her tributes to Nadal on his retirement. The 23-time Grand Slam winner took to X to say, “Why am I getting so choked up. With @RafaelNadal retirement. I’m not good at goodbyes.” Not only this, but in an Instagram post, Williams was spotted wearing a Nadal t-shirt and a headband and bid adieu to the retiring legend. 

She captioned the video, “@rafaelnadal Congratulations on a career that most [won’t] dare to dream of. I feel so fortunate to have been able to play when you were playing and being Great. You inspired me to be better, to play harder, for fight, to never give up, and to win more. No excuses, just play the sport. Your legacy will never die. Wow to see your career from the beginning to today was an honor, Champ! Long live Rafa!”
