The next two Tests will be the traditional Boxing Day and New Year’s matches, commencing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26-30 and Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3-7. Notably, this will be the second Test series for Pakistan in the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle after they got the better of Sri Lanka by 2-0 in two Tests in July while competing against them away from home.

Will Pakistan win their first Test match in Australia in 28 years?

Pakistan have lost their last 14 Test matches in Australia dating back to the year 1995 when they last tasted success down under at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Over the years, the Pakistan batters have struggled to cope with the pace and bounce of the pitches in Australia, while their bowlers haven’t managed to put enough pressure on the opposition batters too.

This phenomenon has led to Pakistan succumbing to defeat after defeat in Test matches in Australia, which isn’t expected to change this time, especially when the PCB have made big alterations in the leadership group of the team. The new Test captain of Pakistan, Shan Masood will have his task cut out to ensure that the team competes against a highly confident lineup of Australia, who have won the ODI World Cup 2023 just recently.
