Pat McAfee, former NFL player and American sports analyst, narrowly survived a cannon shot on ESPN College GameDay season opening show in College Station, Texas for Notre Dame at Texas A&M. The 37-year-old was announcing the start of an event at the College GameDay with a sword in hand alongside a soldier, when the incident happened.

Notably, after taking a leave of absence from weekly colour commentary on WWE Raw every Monday night, Pat McAfee returned to ESPN College GameDay show before the start of the new season. But his return to Notre Dame at Texas A&M could have taken a turn for the worst if not for his lightning fast reflexes before his co-commentators had a laugh at his expense.

During the College GameDay show, four of the six analysts picked the 19 Miami Hurricanes to beat the Florida Gators. Desmond Goward, Nick Saban, Johnny Manzeil, and Lee Corso picked Miami, while Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit went with Florida.

Ultimately, the Hurricanes got the better of the Gators in a one-sided contest by 41-17 at the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville. Miami delivered a stellar defensive performance coupled with quarterback Cam Ward’s gunslinging to score the majority of the points against Florida on the day.
