Indian ace PV Sindhu and her Spanish counterpart Carolina Marin engaged in a verbal feud during the Denmark Open 2023 semifinals. Two-time Olympic medal list, Sindhu locked horns with her 2016 Rio Olympics final rival for the final berth of Denmark Open Super 750 tournament in Odense on Saturday, October 21. Both shuttlers had won one round each, before Sindhu was completely outplayed in the final round.
They engaged in a verbal fight during the deciding round before the chair umpire showed a yellow card to both. In the final round, Marin was leading Sindhu 9-2, while triggering the pace and not allowing enough time to the Indian to get ready.

The altercation started when Marin tried to drag the shuttle from Sindhu’s court, after which both were seen exchanging words at each other. Not only this, but before this, Marin and Sindhu had received warnings to tone down their celebrations after winning points. However, after the final round altercation, the chair umpire showed yellow cards to both, after which the world ranked 6 was seen arguing why it was being shown to her.
Speaking of the semifinal match, Sindhu’s campaign in the tournament came to an end after losing the final round, and thus the match with 18-21, 21-19, 7-21 scoreline.
