On October 3, Monday, ahead of India versus Nepal in the men’s cricket quarter-final, R Sai Kishore was spotted crying on the camera as the Indian national anthem played in the background. The emotional moment didn’t deter the left-arm orthodox spinner from bowling a quality spell of four overs, which was instrumental in India getting the better of the Nepal cricket team by 23 runs to reach the semi-final of the Asian Games 2023.

The quarter-final at the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field in Hangzhou saw India batting first against Nepal after their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss. The opening pair of him and Yashasvi Jaiswal got Team India off to a flying start, putting together a partnership of 103 runs inside the first 10 overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal batted for the majority of the Indian innings, scoring 100 off 49 balls, which included eight fours and seven sixes. Then, the late flourish from Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh ensured that India posted a commanding score of 202/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

After his emotional outpouring during the Indian national anthem, R Sai Kishore got in the scheme of things for India in the second innings of the match, while defending the massive total. He picked up the key wicket of Kushal Burthel, the opener for Nepal, to break the crucial second wicket stand with Kushal Malla.
