On Saturday, October 28, Rachin Ravindra, the left-handed batter from New Zealand, brought up his second hundred in the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia, at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The 23-year-old was leading the charge for the Blackcaps in their pursuit of a 389-run target against the Aussies, to put them a step closer to the semi-final spot in the quadrennial spectacle.

The big run chase for New Zealand began with their openers Devon Conway and Will Young providing an enterprising start in the first powerplay stage, stitching together 61 runs within eight overs. After Josh Hazlewood picked up the key wicket of Devon Conway, the No. 3 batter Rachin Ravindra walked to the crease to join Will Young, who lost his wicket to the aforementioned fast bowler two overs later.
The pair of Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell kept the Australians bowlers at bay during the initial stage of the second powerplay, before taking the attack to them. The 96-run partnership for the third wicket was broken in the 24th over by Adam Zampa, who got rid of Daryl Mitchell for 54 off 51, with six fours and one maximum.
It led to the New Zealand captain Tom Latham joining Rachin Ravindra in the middle, with the youngster keeping the required run rate in check. The 54-run stand between the pair ended in the 32nd over, when Adam Zampa dismissed Tom Latham for 21 off 22.

A few overs later, Rachin Ravindra smashed Glenn Maxwell for a maximum to bring up his second hundred of the ODI World Cup 2023. His wicket was taken by the Australian captain Pat Cummins, but not before he scored 116 off 89, a swashbuckling innings which included nine fours and five maximums.
