New Zealand youngster Rachin Ravindra announced himself in the IPL 2024 as he pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss the Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis in the season opener. After winning the toss, RCB decided to bat first and D u Plessis gave his side a blistering start.
Taking on Chennai's opening bowlers Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande, the South African great was in incredible form despite his recent poor performances in the SA20. In a space of 23 balls, Faf smashed eight boundaries and took his score to 35.

Facing off against Mustafizur Rahman, the 39-year-old started the fifth over with a dot and then hit a boundary towards extra cover. Then on the third ball, Du Plessis attempted to hit another boundary but hit the ball towards the young Kiwi, who rushed in from deep backward point, to complete a stunning catch.
This match is also special for Faf du Plessis as he returns to the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for the first since leaving the Super Kings. The South African played 91 matches for the Yellow Army and scored 2721 runs. Speaking about his return, Faf said, "First time back here, great to see the Chennai fans again but I'm here with RCB and hopefully we can turn over a very good CSK team."
