The Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) are hosting SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 12 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.  While it was visiting captain Pat Cummins, who won the toss and opted to bat first at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. 

With Mayank Agarwal and Travis Head starting the proceedings for SRH, Azmatullah Omarzai drew the first blood in Mayank Agarwal. His opening partner Travis Head also returned to the pavilion after adding 19 runs, followed by Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal. With Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen looking good in the middle, Rashid Khan’s brilliant effort in the field helped the GT break the partnership. 

On the fourth ball of the 15th over, Rashid timed the catch to perfection to dismiss Aiden Markram. The Protean international holed out Umesh Yadav’s delivery over long-on but Khan just timed it perfectly and slid to complete a brilliant catch. 

Heinrich Klaasen smashes bat after frustrating dismissal

As the Hyderabad inning progressed, with Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram aiming to go big with their play stroke, the South African wicketkeeper-batter in Klaasen was dismissed off Rashid Khan’s spin attack. The prized wicket came on the fourth delivery of the 14th over and soon after a brilliant bowled from Khan, Klaasen was fuming in frustration.

He lashed out his frustration as he smashed his bat with his hands, video of which is going viral on social media.

Speaking of the match, the Pat Cummins-led SRH posted 162 runs off their stipulated 20 overs with Pat Cummins adding only two runs off two deliveries. Moreover, Mohit Sharma was the pick for the bowlers, finishing with the figures of 3/25 in his four-over spell.
