Ravi Shastri, while receiving the award from Jay Shah, was asked a question by Harsha Bhogle about one moment that he would always feel wow when waking up suddenly in the middle of the night. Shastri replied: "It will be very tough to pick one moment in my career like 1985 Benson & Hedges World Championship final against Pakistan at Melbourne was a very special night, winning 1983 World Cup final at Lord's, smashing several hundreds in West Indies, double hundred in Australia and in commentary during the 2011 WC final when MS Dhoni hit the ball for six and of course in 2007 when India lifted T20 World Cup were very special."
Ravi Shastri then talked about one of the special moments being against Australia in the 2021 Test at Gabba. He said "India's performance in final day of Test at Gabba and Rishabh Pant's scintillating knock taking us home was icing on the cake. The most expensive medal for me is the Gabba win." India created history by winning two back-to-back Test series on Australian soil in 2018/19 & 2020/21 respectively under Ravi Shastri's tenure.
