Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stalwarts Ambati Rayudu and Subramaniam Badrinath have mocked Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for failing to win any trophy in their 17-year Indian Premier League (IPL) history. CSK will host Bengaluru at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the eighth contest of IPL 2025. RCB will be expected to play quality cricket against Chennai and end their 17-year hoodoo at Chepauk. RCB won their last game against the Yellow Army at Chepauk in 2008 under Rahul Dravid’s leadership. Under Rajat Patidar, Bengaluru will look to turn the table against their South Indian rival.
Ahead of the contest between the South Indian rivals, CSK formers Rayudu and Badrinath had a cheerful moment at the cost of RCB. On his YouTube channel Cric It With Badri, Badrinath interviewed Rayudu and asked “Will RCB jinx be broken this year?” Replying to the question, Rayudu laughed and took a dig at the Challengers saying he doesn’t want RCB to win the trophy this year. “Purely as a fan, and as someone who had really good laughter at them over the years because of what they do to themselves, I would want them to win sometime, but not this year, maybe. We want CSK to do well and win it this year. In the end, we need someone like RCB in the IPL (laughs),” said Rayudu.
CSK will rely on their spin-bowling unit to neutralise the RCB challenge at home
Chennai will expect their spin-bowling trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Noor Ahmad to dominate Bengaluru’s solid batting unit at Chepauk. In their opening contest against Mumbai Indians (MI), Noor took advantage of the turning track and bagged a four-wicket haul. Ashwin also delivered a wicket-taking and frugal spell (1/31 in four overs) to his team’s convincing four-wicket victory.
RCB have started their IPL with a bang after winning their first game against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets on March 22. Their supporters will want them to continue their formidable playing style and achieve victory against the Yellow Army in the upcoming game.
