Rinku Singh, the Indian cricketer, spoke to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) website about his famous “God’s Plan” tattoo ahead of the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, starting in Gwalior on Sunday, October 6. The 26-year-old revealed the story behind the “God’s Plan” tattoo about how it’s written inside a ring, which symbolises the rays of the sun, to represent his exploits in the IPL last year.
Notably, Rinku Singh got the “God’s Plan” in September of this year, to remember the IPL 2023 match for Kolkata Knight Riders against Gujarat Titans, when he smashed Yash Dayal for five consecutive sixes on the final five balls of the contest, to help his team achieve an unlikely win. The straight lines on his tattoo are pointing in the direction of the sixes he hit, including two towards the cover region, and one each towards the long-off, long-off, and the deep fine-leg regions.

During the interview for the BCCI website, the clip of which has been posted on their official X account, Rinku Singh also admitted that the five sixes against Yash Dayal in the IPL 2023 changed his life. He was quoted as saying, “I keep saying 'God's Plan.' I designed my tattoo based on that. It's been a few weeks since I got it. The words 'God's Plan' are written inside a circle, which symbolises the sun. The main aspect of the tattoo is the representation of the five sixes I hit in the IPL. It changed my life, so I thought I would include them in the tattoo.”

Moreover, Rinku Singh, who had to miss out on playing the T20 World Cup 2024, has grown in stature in the Indian cricket team in the last year or so, with the help of consistent performances as a batter, and in the previous T20I series against Sri Lanka, he contributed immensely with the ball as well. He will be a vital part of the Indian cricket team in their upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, with the first match set to happen at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in a day’s time.
A few weeks ago, Rinku Singh last played a professional cricket match during the recently concluded Duleep Trophy for India B against India C.
