Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant lost his bat while attempting a slog against the Chennai Super Kings at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. After winning the toss, the Capitals got off to a blistering start with David Warner and Prithvi Shaw demolishing the CSK bowling attack to post 93 in 9.3 overs before the Aussie great got out.
But with two quick wickets, thanks to Matheesha Pathirana and Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai got in the game. Pant, who marks his return to pro cricket after his 14-month injury layoff, was struggling to hit the ball well.
Continuing his struggles against Deepak Chahar, Pant had played two consecutive dot balls before attempting a massive slog on the fourth ball. Here, Pant lost his shape and his bat slipped out of his hand. The DC captain rushed for a single without his bat and shared a light moment with Chahar.

I think it makes a lot of difference: Pant on playing Vizag
Before the start of the game, Rishabh Pant spoke about playing at the Capitals' new home ground in Vizag. Speaking at the toss, Pant said, "We'll bat first. Wicket looks good, we want to use it as a batting track, put runs on the board. (On playing home games in Vizag) I think it makes a lot of difference, but we practiced here. We came here and got 10 days at this wicket. Two changes - Kuldeep had a niggle, Prithvi Shaw comes in. Ricky Bhui is out, Ishant Sharma comes in."
