India and New Zealand are locking horns in the third and final match of the T20I series on Tuesday (22 November) in Napier. New Zealand captain Tim Southee won the toss and decided to bat first. However, Hardik Pandya-led India showed why they wanted to bowl first as Arshdeep Singh struck in his very first over, accounting for Finn Allen.

Mohammed Siraj then dismissed Mark Chapman to break the partnership forming between him and Devon Conway. However, Glenn Phillips and Conway then took the New Zealand innings forward as they stitched an 86-run partnership for the third wicket. However, Siraj was not done yet as he got Phillips caught at the hands of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

After Phillips, Daryl Mitchell came to the crease and played a couple of audacious shots but he too was sent packing by Arshdeep. It was on Neesham to finish NZ’s innings on a high but the southpaw’s plan was spoiled by Siraj and Rishabh Pant. The Indian pacer once again bowled into the pitch and generated that extra bounce. Neesham, meanwhile, tried to slash it but ended up slicing straight up in the air.

With no timing and enough power behind the shot, the ball went high up in the air.   Pant called for the catch and took it with ease but it was not an easy catch at all. The Indian wicketkeeper had to run a fair distance before diving forward to get a hold of the ball.
