Manchester City’s Rodri received a red card for engaging in an on-field altercation with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White on September 23, Saturday. The Spaniard was sent off immediately after he grabbed Gibbs-White by the neck and pushed him during the game. Rodri was hailed as the best midfielder in Europe by Pep Guardiola last week.

The 27-year-old lost his cool in a furious confrontation and grabbed his rival, which then resulted in him being sent off immediately. As a result, Rodri will be suspended for the next three matches for his side, who are currently leading the Premier League.

He will miss games against Newcastle in EFL Cup, which is to be played on September 27, and Wolves on September 30 as well as Arsenal on October 8 in Premier League. In the Sky Sports’ commentary, Adam Bate said, "City supporters can debate that if they like but it is an inexplicable decision by Rodri rather than the officials.”

Rodri established himself as the most consistent number six over the years. In 2021-2022, he scored a last-minute winner against the Gunners.  Speaking of the game, Manchester City maintained their dominance against their rivals and registered a 2-0 victory. The goals for City came from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland inside the first quarter of an hour.
