Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, lost his cool on Sarfaraz Khan during India’s bowling innings on day two of the ongoing first Test against New Zealand M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After getting bowled for just 46 runs, India were desperate to take early wickets of New Zealand. But after a sloppy effort in the field from Sarfaraz Khan, Indian captain Rohit Sharma got frustrated at the youngster before yelled and cursed at the Indian batter as seen in a viral video. Moreover, New Zealand reached 180/3 with a lead of 134 runs by the end of day two of the first Test.

Earlier in the  day, India registered their third lowest total in Test cricket and the lowest-ever total at home in the first innings versus the visitors. However, New Zealand batted in a completely different way as skipper Tom Latham and Devon Conway went past India’s total without losing any wicket. The opening pair added 67 runs for the first wicket. As India weren’t able to dominate Kiwi batters, Rohit Sharma was seen shouting at Sarfaraz Khan, and remarked, “Sarfu b*dk kya kr rha h, ball pakadna m*darch*d.”

It was my misjudgement to bat first after India were bowled out for 36: Rohit Sharma

After India’s disastrous performance on day two, skipper Rohit Sharma admitted that he made a blunder by choosing to bat first after winning the toss at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India kept losing wickets at regular intervals with only two players reaching double-digit mark. Rohit himself failed to get a big score, and got out on two runs of 16 balls. Five players from the Indian batting line up went back to the pavilion for a duck.

“It was my misjudgement to bat first. I was expecting a flat pitch, but I couldn’t read the pitch well,” Rohit Sharma was quoted as saying by FirstPost during press conference after day two. He also said, “On a pitch where there were assistance for seamers, and now that we got out for 46, you can say the shot selection wasn’t up to the mark. It was a bad day. Sometimes you want to do something but could not execute.”
