Ahead of IPL 2022, the most successful franchise Mumbai Indians have kicked off their preparations in full swing with captain Rohit Sharma at the helm of things on Friday. Hitman completed his 3-day mandatory quarantine and hit the nets straightaway, impressing one and all with his explosive stroke-play during the practice session.
The franchise shared a small clip of Rohit's batting on social media, which showed the wide range of mesmerizing shots hit by the MI captain on Day 1 of his practice session ahead of new season. The 34-year-old was seen playing some cheeky shots down the third man region before he produced a gigantic hit towards the long-on boundary.
Rohit does an MSD during practice session
Having already played a couple of shots by stepping out, Hitman stunned everyone with one of his shots which stole the show on the day. Very unlike him, the right-handed batsman came up with an outrageous helicopter shot, smashing the ball towards cow-corner region.
It was indeed a delight to watch Rohit Sharma adding another beautiful shot (famously played by MS Dhoni) to his explosive batting armoury. The fans would be hoping that they can watch the MI captain producing the helicopter shot during a match in IPL 2022, which will certainly set the internet on fire.
All eyes on captain and opener Rohit Sharma
The 34-year-old is coming into IPL 2022 season with added pressure, being the all-format captain of national team now. There will undoubtedly be more eyes on Rohit Sharma this time around, with his captaincy and batting under constant scrutiny.
Meanwhile, Hitman would be hoping to come up with a better season with bat after two back-to-back average campaigns. He scored 332 runs in IPL 2020 and 381 runs in IPL 2021 and considering the fact that it's the year of T20 World Cup, both MI and Indian cricket fans would be hoping that Rohit can come up with '500+ runs season' in IPL 2022.
