Team India captain, Rohit Sharma was seen emulating Virat Kohli’s bail switch trick during the first Test against Bangladesh. The Men in Blue etched history on Sunday, September 22 as they defeated their near neighbours, Bangladesh by 280 runs to go 1-0 up in the two-match Test series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. With India needing six wickets and Bangladesh needing 357 runs to win at the start of Day 4, Rohit Sharma tried his hands on weaving some magic as he was seen switching the bails.

However, the exact timing of the incident is not known, the 37-year-old’s video is making rounds on social media where he was trying his hands on some tricks with Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto looking good in the middle at the start of the day 4’s play. Although, this didn’t change the tide of the game as on the very next delivery, which is bowled by Ravindra Jadeja, he was smashed for a boundary.

Rohit Sharma with this emulated Stuart Broad and Virat Kohli’s technique in the first Test in Chennai. Broad during the fifth Test of the Ashes series, flipped the bails before placing them back on the top of the stumps hoping it to bring some good luck with Australia in firm position. Immediately after this, Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne edged to get caught.

After Broad’s success, Virat Kohli also tried the trick in the Test series against South Africa. The former Indian captain switched the bails just ahead of Jasprit Bumrah’s over and to everyone’s surprise it did work this time. Bumrah dismissed Tony de Zorzi off the final delivery and broke the crucial 93-run stand.

We got to be ready: Rohit Sharma after India’s triumph

Speaking after India’s comprehensive win against Bangladesh in the first Test, Rohit Sharma at the post-match presentation said, "It was a great result looking at what lies ahead for us. We are playing after a long time, but you are never out of cricket. We came here a week before, we had a good lead-up to the Test match and we got the result that we wanted. No matter what the conditions are, whether we play in India, or whether we play outside, we want to build the team around that (strong bowling).”

"Whatever the condition has to offer, we got to be ready for it. In the last few years, wherever we have played, we have managed to have that in our armoury, whether it is seam bowling options or spin bowling options. You have to give credit to the guys, whenever there is a responsibility, they never shy away from it and they want to put their hand up and get the job done for the team," Rohit added.
