In the ongoing match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan smashed the ball fiercely towards the non-striker Rohit Sharma and hit him. Luckily for the MI skipper, he escaped a major injury because the ball had struck the top of the pad instead of his knee.

At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, SRH captain Aiden Markram had won the toss and put MI into bat. His decision didn’t quite work as the Sunrisers bowlers got the tap from Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan inside the powerplay.

During the fourth ball of the third over, Marco Jansen delivered a half volley to Kishan, who muscled it towards Rohit Sharma at the non-striker’s end. The Mumbai Indians captain saw the ball come towards him and tried to get out of the way. But his reactions were not quick enough as the ball clattered into his pads and he immediately tumbled to the ground.

But still, Rohit had the presence of mind to put his bat inside the crease and make a subtle gesture with his left hand towards Kishan to signify that he is alright. Ishan Kishan immediately gestured back with his left hand towards Rohit Sharma as a mark of apology. Mayank Agarwal, the SRH opener, saw the funny side of the incident, while the fans in the grandstands, including Rohit’s wife Ritika Sajdeh, were shocked for a moment at what had transpired in the middle.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians kept the momentum given by Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma in the powerplay and went onto post an above par total of 192/5 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Cameron Green was the highest scorer for MI with 64(40) including 6 fours and 2 sixes.
