India and South Africa locked horns in the third and final T20I of the three-match T20I series on Tuesday (4 October) at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Indian team management also made a few changes to their playing XI. While Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were rested for the final fixture considering their workload, Arshdeep Singh missed the game with some issues with his back.
The team hit the ground as per the usual routine a few minutes before the game to get into the zone. Captain Rohit Sharma was also seen practicing before he went in to come out for the toss. While Sharma was shadow practicing his shots, the cameras captured an unusual black mark on the batter’s right knee. It looked pretty dark to be considered bruised and too realistic for safety gear. Hence, fans were left wondering about what it was.
Nevertheless, the suspense was cleared a few seconds later as Rohit turned around, the camera captured the black spot properly, indicating that the India captain, may, after all, have applied an ointment.
Coming to the game, Sharma’s decision to bowl first did not augur too well as the Indian bowlers were taken to the cleaners by Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw with the latter scoring his maiden T20I ton. India conceded 227 runs in their 20 overs with almost bowler going over 11 runs per over (except Ashwin). Umesh Yadav and Deepak Chahar were the only wicket takers for India as the pacers bagged a wicket each.
