The Indian captain Rohit Sharma was greeted with an enthralling welcome thanks to his childhood friends and teammate Tilak Varma at his residence in Mumbai. Sharma led Team India to their first ICC World Cup since 2011 and ended this trophy drought by beating South Africa spectacularly.

After winning the World Cup on June 29, the Indian team was stranded in the West Indies because of a grade 4 Hurricane. Since that victory, the Men in Blue reached India on July 4. After landing in Delhi, the team met with PM Narendra Modi and left for an open bus parade to celebrate this victory.

Post the magical victory parade through the Marine Drive into the Wnakhede Stadium, Rohit Sharma reached his home and was greeted with a salute from all his childhood friends who had planned a special surprise for the Hitman. Joining the festivities, India and Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma.  The video had a caption saying " A Champions Welcome Part 1 ft Childhood Friends."

This is a little more special: Rohit compares 2007 WC win to 2024 WC win

At the event, Rohit Sharma was asked to compare this win to the 2007 win in the final of the inaugural T20 World Cup. Sharma said,  "2007 was a different feeling. We started off in the afternoon and this is in the evening. I cannot forget 2007, as it was my first World Cup. This is a little more special because I  was leading the team. So it is a very proud moment for me."

"This is going to be mad. You can make out the excitement and it shows how much it means not just to us but also to the entire nation. It means a lot. So I am very happy that we could achieve something like this for them as well."
