On Wednesday, February 14, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah confirmed Rohit Sharma as the skipper of the side for T20 World Cup 2024, set to be played in the USA and West Indies. Speaking ahead of the third Test at the newly renamed Niranjan Shah Stadium, Jay Shah made a big announcement in regard with Team India skipper.
“Main apko promise karna chahta hoon ki Rohit Sharma ki kaptaani mein 2024 mein Barbados mein hum zaroor Bharat ka jhanda gadenge (I want to promise you that we’ll lift the trophy in Barbados in the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy),” Shah said. This not only left the member of the Indian team as well as the management ecstatic, skipper Rohit Sharma also dropped a priceless reaction to this.
The 36-year-old Mumbai batter was seen clapping and giving a wide smile on being named the skipper of the side, video of which is now going viral on social media.
