The Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) registered their maiden win in the IPL 2024 on Sunday, April 7. After three consecutive defeats, the five-time champions registered their first win as they beat Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium in the first match of the double-header Sunday.
While it was Hardik Pandya’s first win as MI captain, it was former MI skipper and one of their most successful captains who stole the limelight with his viral dressing room speech as well as his crucial 27-ball 49. For his brilliant knock, the 36-year-old also received a special award in the MI dressing room.
However, the MI coach Mark Boucher lauded Rohit as “the senior statesman”, the viral dressing room speech from Rohit has been doing rounds. The five-time champions took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the video with the caption reading, “A Ro special at Wankhede. A Ro special in the dressing room. 🎖️💙”

“I thought it was a wonderful batting performance. It’s something that we’ve all been striving for from game one. Goes to show that individual performances don’t matter if the whole batting group can stand up and put their hand up. If we look at the team’s goal, we can achieve that kind of a total”, Rohit said after receiving the badge from Kieron Pollard.
“It is something that we’ve been talking about for a long time. It’s something that the batting coach (Pollard), Mark (Boucher) and the captain (Hardik) want. Wonderful to see that, like you said, long may that continue,” he further ad ded.
With the 29-run win against DC, Mumbai Indians have now jumped to the eighth spot in the IPL 2024 points table. The Hardik Pandya-led side will next host Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 11 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
