Interim lightweight world champion Ryan Garcia has threatened to sue the NY Boxing Commission over his right to freedom of speech and defamation of character. Garcia, who has been in the news since the Devin Haney fight press conference, made headlines due to his behavior on social media of late. His behaviour raised concern among fans and pundits and they wondered if the 25-year-old was mentally fit. The NY Commission then said that they wanted to assess Garcia’s mental health ahead of his fight on April 20th.
This claim of the NY Commission didn’t go well with the youngster and he took to social media and threatened to sue the commission over defamation of his public image. On the other hand, WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman said that the body has been in touch with the NY Commission over Garcia’s social media behavior in the recent past.

In a video that Garcia posted on his social media, he threatened to file a case against the governing body, while stating that they wouldn’t have tested Mike Tyson if he fought in New York. Garcia said, “So, because I am tweeting what I am tweeting that’s premises for mental evaluation. That’s curious. You are trying to mess with my constitutional right.” He added, “Now I am going to sue you for defamation of character actually.” “They won’t test Mike Tyson if he fought in New York but they would test me.”
‘KingRy’ as he is known, Garcia further added, “My own therapist told me I should be smoking w**d. And they are stopping me from it, that should be against the law.” Recently, a video was uploaded on Garcia’s social media platforms, that left fans worried if the boxer was killed.”
