Indian cricketer Sanju Samson is on a well-deserved break from the sport after playing non-stop cricket since March of this year. Amidst his time off from cricket, the 29-year-old was spotted playing football on a basketball court with his friends, a video of which has gone viral on the social media platform X.
Notably, Sanju Samson has been on the road non-stop since taking part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season as captain of Rajasthan Royals from March 22 to May 26. Shortly after, he was on a flight to the Americas, taking part in the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Indian colours in June before travelling to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe to play more white-ball cricket in July.
The last couple of matches for Sanju Samson in the T20I series against Sri Lanka were far from ideal with the bat for him. He was dismissed without troubling the scorers in both the innings, ending his tour on a low note.
After putting the disappointment of his recent international commitments aside, Sanju Samson was seen playing football with his friends on a basketball court. Basil Thampi was also part of the fun alongside his Kerala teammate, showcasing their love for the beautiful game.
Here is the clip of Sanju Samson playing football on a basketball court:
At the launch of the Kerala Cricket League recently, when Sanju Samson was asked about his involvement in the Indian team, “I will just go and play whenever they select me. That's it! At the end of the day, our team is doing well. I am the kind of person who believes in higher purpose. I just try to take things positively under controllable circumstances and put up the efforts.”
