Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi delivered a sensational performance in his debut game between Welsh Fire and Manchester Originals in The Hundred 2023. Earlier, the game got delayed due to rain and was later reduced to 40 balls on each side. The Originals won the toss and invited their rivals to bat first, and in return, the Welsh Fire posted a score of 94 in 40 balls at the loss of three wickets.
However, Manchester, who needed a good start to their innings, lost their first two wickets on the first two balls, courtesy, of Shaheen Afridi. For Manchester, Philip Salt and Laurie Evans came to open the innings, with Shaheen Afridi opening the attack for his side. However, Manchester’s strategy of taking on their rivals took a backfoot when Shaheen Afridi sent them back to the pavilion in the first two deliveries.
Later, the Pakistan pacer couldn’t continue his brilliant form and ended up conceding 24 runs in the last eight balls. Welsh Fire ended up winning the game by nine runs. Not only this, but this was also the first game that the Welsh side won since 2021.
