On Sunday, August 25, Shan Masood-led Men in Green were handed a humiliating 10-wicket defeat at their home at the hands of Bangladesh. While it was a tough pill to swallow for the Pakistan team, Bangladesh made history as they registered their first-ever win against Pakistan in Test cricket and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.

After this defeat, fans took to social media to lash out their anger on the hosts, highlighting the several points which went wrong during the opening Test. Amidst this, some even claimed of rift in the Pakistan camp, especially after their red-ball captain, Shan Masood’s furious video from the dressing room went viral. 

But in another instance which has been doing rounds, the claims of rift in the camp of the Pakistan cricket team have been further confirmed after Shaheen Afridi was seen taking off Shan Masood’s hand from his shoulder. With the skipper and the star pacer standing next to each other during a team huddle on one of the days of the first Test, the latter removed the former’s arms from his shoulder, leaving the internet speculating that all is not well in the camp. 

Notably, the video went viral on Day 5 of the first Test, moments after Shan Masood’s heated conversation with head coach, Jason Gillespie circulated on social media.

Speaking of the opening Test, while it was Bangladesh’s first win against Pakistan in 14 Tests, after they had lost 12 and drew one before this match. Moreover, it was also Bangladesh’s first 10-wicket win in Tests, with their previous biggest win coming against New Zealand in 2022 by a margin of eight wickets. However, it was also Pakistan’s first defeat by 10 wickets in a home Test, including matches in the UAE. 

The Shan Masood-led Pakistan will aim to come back strongly in the second and final Test of the two-match series, which is scheduled to be played from August 30th till September 3 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
