Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan opened up in an exclusive podcast about how he is “blocked” from contacting his 11-year-old son Zoravar after losing custody to his former wife Aesha Mukherji, following their divorce in October 2023. Since then, the 39-year-old hasn’t been able to be in-person with his son, not speaking with him for a year, but still he still messages him every few days in his attempt to try and reach out.

Notably, Shikhar Dhawan was granted visitation rights apart from connecting with his son via video calls, but the former ICC Champions Trophy winner has claimed that he has been blocked from seeing or speaking to Zoravar. While stating that he misses his son, Dhawan also spoke about finding solace by speaking to him spiritually, feeling through affirmations.

It has been two years since I've seen my son: Shikhar Dhawan

During an ANI podcast, Shikhar Dhawan talked about the pain of not being in-person with his son, and said, as per NDTV Sports, “It has been two years since I've seen my son, one years since I last spoke to him. It has been difficult, but you learn to live with it.  I miss him and speak to him spiritually. I feel through affirmations that I'm conversing with him everyday, hugging him. I put my energy into it spiritually. It is the only way I can bring back my son. My sadness won't help. I manifest.”

“I already feel that I'm with him, speaking to him, playing with him. When I sit for my meditation, I visualise those things. My son is 11 years old now, but I have seen him for only two and-a-half years of his life," he added. When asked about which innings of his would Shikhar Dhawan like to show to his son Zoravar upon meeting him the next time, he stated that this thought never occurred to him.

Instead, Dhawan spoke about hugging his son, listening to whatever he says, apart from spending quality time with him, and if the 11-year-old tears up, then he will happily join in with him.
