On Friday, September 6, Shreyas Iyer, the captain of India D, scored a quick-fire fifty off just 39 balls in the Duleep Trophy clash against India C at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur. After finding themselves trailing by four runs in the first innings, India D lost an early wicket, which led to Shreyas Iyer’s arrival at the crease, who counterattacked the India C bowlers, scoring 54 runs off just 44 balls, to help his team reach a decent position at the close of play on day two.
After India D scored 164 runs in their first innings on day one of the Duleep Trophy clash in Bengaluru, they managed to restrict India C to 168 runs despite a very impressive fifty from Baba Indrajith. Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers for India D, taking four wickets while conceding just 33 runs in his 13-over spell, which included five maidens at the Rural Development Trust Stadium.

In their second innings, India D opener Yash Dubey lost his wicket for just five runs off the bowling of Vijaykumar Vyshak, which brought Shreyas Iyer to the crease. The captain of India D employed the tactic of attack being the best form of defence on a difficult batting pitch, taking down the opposition bowlers with his aggressive strokeplay, hitting nine fours and one maximum in just 44 balls.

When Anshul Kamboj dismissed Shreyas Iyer for 54, with the captain of India C, Ruturaj Gaikwad, taking a smart catch, the score of India D read 93/3, a better position in comparison to the start of day two. Thereafter, at stumps, India D found themselves on 206/8 after Manav Suthar’s five-wicket haul, leading India C by 202 runs, which will be a tough chase in the fourth innings of this Duleep Trophy clash.
