Sri Lanka cruised past Bangladesh on Saturday, March 9 to claim the three-match T20I series by 2-1 margin. However, the visitors won the opening match by mere three runs to go 1-0 up in the series, the hosts came back from behind to register a convincing eight-wicket win in the second T20I and take the series into the decider.

Taking the field in the final T20I on Saturday, March 9, Bangladesh invited Sri Lanka to put the core first on the board. The Wanindu Hasaranga-led side put up 174/4 in the 20 overs and then restricted their Asian opponents to below 150 to win by 28 runs. Although, the celebrations began soon after the final wicket, they went on till the post-match presentation.

Soon afterwards when Wanindu Hasaranga, who returned to take the helm in the final T20I after completing a two-match ban, received the trophy and handed it over to the young players. As celebrated this moment, they also took a moment to troll Bangladesh, bringing out the ‘Timed Out’ celebration. In the video going viral, the members of the Sri Lankan squad can be gesturing towards their left wrist, indicating the imaginary watch.

Angelo Mathews become first player to be Timed Out

The to and fro of the Timed-Out celebration began from the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. The Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh side appealed for a Timed-Out wicket of Angelo Mathews as he delayed the proceedings during the ODI World Cup 2023. 

With the spirit of cricket also being brought into discussion, Shoriful Islam of Bangladesh also brought in the time-out gesture to celebrate a wicket.

Talking about Sri Lanka’s tour of Bangladesh, the action will now shift to the ODI series. The two side will lock horns in a three-match ODI series, starting March 13, Wednesday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
