The ICC ODI World Cup 2 023 Final between India and Australia was witness to a moment of confusion which led to the wicket of Steven Smith as the Aussies were chasing a 241-run total. The five-time champions put forth an incredible bowling effort to restrict a dominant India batting unit to a low score.

But making a comeback in the contest, Indian bowlers continued their dominant run and picked up two quick wickets. Then as Steve Smith started his innings, the Aussie number four seemed uncomfortable. Facing Jasprit Bumrah in the eighth over, Smith's struggles continued as he was squared up against a slower ball which tailed in.

As the umpire put up his finger, Smith discussed with his partner Travis Head whether to take a DRS. But as no review was taken, Smith went back to the dressing room. Moments later, the broadcasters displayed that Smith was not out.
