Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar responds to Virat Kohli’s statement on experts questioning his strike rate during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s game against Gujarat Titans on Saturday. Responding to Kohli’s staggering reply to the experts, Gavaskar said that these experts have played a little bit of cricket, if not a lot.
Speaking on Star Sports before the thrilling encounter where the home side prevailed by four wickets, Gavaskar said, “All these guys talk about, oh we don’t care about outside noise. Then why are you replying to any outside noise or whatever it is? We all played a bit of cricket, not a lot of cricket. We don’t have agendas. We speak about what we see. We don’t necessarily have any likes and dislikes. Even if we have likes and dislikes, we actually speak on what is happening.”
It started following the Ahmedabad fixture game between GT and RCB where the former Bengaluru skipper issued a daunting statement over the continuous talks about his strike rate in this IPL. After playing a match-winning knock of unbeaten 70, Kohli said in the post-match, “All the people who talk about strike rate and me not playing spin well are the ones who love talking about this stuff. But for me, it’s just about winning the game for the team. And there’s a reason why you do it for 15 years- because you’ve don’t this day in (and) day out; you’ve won games for your teams.”
