Since its release on August 11, “Gadar 2” starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Singh has become an immensely popular sequel to “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” from 2001. It has led to Sunny Deol, reprising the iconic role of Tara Singh, promoting the upcoming India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2023 in his trademark “Gadar” style for the official broadcaster Star Sports in India.
The 16th edition of the Asia Cup, set to be played in the ODI format, will commence on August 30, when Pakistan takes on Nepal in the Group A fixture at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Then, one of the biggest rivalries on the cricket field, between the two arch-enemies India and Pakistan will recommence when they play each other at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on September 2.

As part of one of the promotional ads for the upcoming fixture, Star Sports roped in Sunny Deol aka Tara Singh from “Gadar 2,” to hype the next chapter of the India vs Pakistan rivalry. The video posted on the official Twitter account of Star Sports had the Bollywood actor pumping up the Indian fans for what’s to come on September 2, with excerpts of the caption reading, “A clash of the top class. A match of the unmatched!”

In the short clip, Sunny Deol was quoted as saying, “Asia Cup mein India vs Pakistan ka match shuru hone se pehle toh main Sunny Deol hi hota hoon. Par ye zabardast muqabala suru hotey hi, main Tara Singh ban jana hai (Before India vs Pakistan match begins in Asia Cup, I am Sunny Deol only. But when this epic contest begins, I become Tara Singh).”

He also says, “Agar ‘Gadar’ machana hai iss game mein toh aao team India ke liye haath uthao. Men in Blue ka josh badhao ( If you want to create havoc in this game, then come, raise your hands for Team India. Increase the spirit of the Men in Blue).”
